Pre-School Visit to Kilcoy Castle

We had a lovely walk this morning to visit Kilcoy Castle. During circle time we were talking about what we have learned so far about Scotland. Various things were discussed like the Kessock Bridge, Glasgow, the A9 and Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle. The subject of Castles became very popular at circle time this morning and the children found out by using the internet that Kilcoy has a castle! We looked at pictures of it and read a little history about it and then Niamh child asked if we could go and see the castle, so as it is not too far away we decided to walk to the castle, and what a lovely walk it was. 20150220_112431 20150220_112517 Once we got back the nursery we had another group discussion about Kilcoy. I asked the group of children ‘What did we learn about kilcoy today?’ The replys were…………………………………………………………………….. ‘It has a secret castle’ Niamh ‘It has a secret road’ Drew ‘It leads to the castle’ Isaac ‘The castle looked new, but it had old steps’ Niamh ‘We seen a dog’ Brodie ‘The dog was called solider’ Amelie ‘The castle was getting work done’ Niamh ‘The castle was hiding behind trees’ William’ ‘The castle has windows’ Niamh
